We are delighted to announce Jamie ‘Smudger’ Smith as first team captain for the season ahead.
Thoughts of the managers, John & Humey –
‘Smudger is a player who has came through the pathway at the club with successful periods in the youth section and u20s where he was captain there also. He made the jump to the first team last summer and has integrated well to senior football.
We thought he was suitable for this role as he is someone who is well liked within the group and is very vocal on and off the pitch. We feel he leads from the back when on the pitch and even though he recently suffered a lengthy injury he was still very supportive of the group, getting about boys and helping where he could.
Having someone with Smudgers passion and knowledge for the club was important for us in making our decision.
We have also appointed Stephen Scott and Dylan Greatorex as our vice captains to assist Smudger in leading the group for the season.
